Rachel Berger, LPC-Intern
Rachel Berger is a licensed professional counselor (LPC) intern at Life Gets Better Together Counseling. She is supervised by Feleshia Porter, LPC-S. Rachel earned her Bachelor's degree in psychology from the Texas Women's University in May, 2011, and her Master's degree in clinical psychology from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin in May, 2014. She did her Master's thesis on "Culture, Biological Sex, and Non-Suicidal Self-Injury" in 2014.
Rachel has specifically taken an interest in self-injury, body-focused repetitive behaviors—such as, hair pulling, skin picking, and nail biting—gender identity, LGBTQ issues, as well as physical, developmental, and intellectual disabilities. Her goal as a counselor is to provide a supportive and accepting environment. Rachel's approach to counseling focuses on the partnership between the counselor and client. Feeling empowered is an important aspect of therapy. Each person is unique in their struggles and desire to be understood.
